Barker Dam Trail loops through Joshua trees, monzogranite boulders, sandy washes, and a historic stock-water reservoir. Interpretive material along the route also addresses the area's ranching history and a protected rock-art site.
The NPS describes the 1.1-mile loop as easy, with about 50 feet of gain and a typical hiking time of 30–45 minutes. Parking is at the Barker Dam trailhead, separate from Jumbo Rocks Campground.
