Backpacking camp
Angel Island State Park, California
Ridge is one of Angel Island State Park's four reservable environmental camping areas, reached on foot from Ayala Cove over the island trail and road network.
Use the exact numbered site on the reservation, carry gear from the ferry, secure food from island wildlife, and verify water and ferry service before departure.
Water planning
California State Parks does not promise a drinking-water outlet at this environmental campsite, and Angel Island posts system outages. Carry the complete camp supply from Ayala Cove and use only an operating park faucet that is not under an advisory.
Do not plan to collect drinking water at this camp area.
No dependable seasonal source is identified for itinerary planning.
Fire planning
Angel Island environmental camps do not allow wood fires or gathering island vegetation for fuel.
Camp stove or charcoal in designated facility. Use only a camp stove or charcoal in the campsite facility designated by State Parks, and obey any wind or fire-danger suspension.
The numbered campsite reservation is required; State Parks does not identify a separate California Campfire Permit for the designated facility.
Check Angel Island's current fire and prescribed-burn notices before boarding the ferry; island conditions can suspend all flame devices.
Seasonal access
No recurring date-based closure of Ridge Environmental Camp is published. The source-connected approach conditions below and temporary emergency orders still control access.
Source-connected approach: Ayala Cove Ferry Dock. Angel Island environmental camps are controlled by reservations and boat access rather than a recurring closure season. Wind, storms, wildfire, water outages, ferry cancellations, and trail work can interrupt a trip.
Confirm the assigned numbered site, ferry or legal private-boat plan, island water notice, and State Parks alerts before departure.
