Fire planning

Campfire & stove rules

Campfires and barbecues prohibited

Campfires

EBRPD prohibits campfires and barbecues at every backpack site, including sites with an old or apparent fire facility.

Backpacking stoves

Backpacking cooking stove only. Use only a portable backpacking stove for cooking at the reserved site and obey any district suspension during high fire danger.

Permit

The backpack-site reservation and emailed parking pass are required; EBRPD does not identify a separate California Campfire Permit.

Current restrictions

Check EBRPD fire-weather notices and the reservation message; a park closure or flame suspension controls over the reservation.

Seasonal access

Closures & seasonal access

Stewartville and Morgan Territory backpack camps close each November through March

Place closure

No recurring date-based closure of Eagle Spring Backpack Camp is published. The source-connected approach conditions below and temporary emergency orders still control access.

Seasonal access

Source-connected approach: Mission Peak Stanford Avenue Trailhead. Stewartville and Morgan Territory backpack camps close each November through March. Mission Peak, Round Valley, and Sibley remain subject to heat, storm, fire, water-system, and park-hour closures.

Before driving

Confirm the exact reservation and park alert. Round Valley's water system is currently out of service, and a reservation does not override a preserve closure.
