Fire planning

Campfire & stove rules

Restrictions change with conditions

Campfires

Two Oaks is an undeveloped backcountry camp area in Henry W. Coe State Park. Follow the assigned site's fire and stove rules and every current emergency restriction. Ground fires are not authorized; use a park-provided fire facility only when the selected camp has one and the park has not suspended fires.

Backpacking stoves

Portable gas stove in the assigned camp when park rules allow. Use a self-contained portable gas stove only in the portion of the assigned camp approved by California State Parks. Extreme-fire-danger and red-flag restrictions can suspend stove use.

Permit

The required backcountry reservation or permit does not itself grant fire permission. California State Parks does not identify a separate California Campfire Permit for an approved portable stove inside these park camps.

Current restrictions

Check the current Henry W. Coe State Park notice and the assigned camp posting before using any flame; State Parks may prohibit wood, charcoal, or every flame device without changing the reservation.

No recurring date-based closure of Two Oaks is published. The source-connected approach conditions below and temporary emergency orders still control access.

Seasonal access

Source-connected approaches: Coe Ranch Entrance Trailhead, Hunting Hollow Entrance Trailhead, Dowdy Ranch Entrance Trailhead. Henry W. Coe backcountry access has no single recurring closure season, but heat, fire danger, storms, muddy roads, seasonal water loss, and temporary park restrictions can change safe access. Dowdy Ranch uses a separate entrance with limited operating access.

Before driving

Check Henry W. Coe park alerts, the selected entrance, assigned backcountry site, and current water report before departure; carry all water when the park advises that sources are unreliable.
