Backpacking camp
Redwood National and State Parks, California
Gold Bluffs Beach Hike/Bike Camp is an official designated overnight location reached by the pinned agency trail route shown in Kampilo.
A reservation or permit is still required, and the map does not guarantee site availability or current access.
Water planning
Backcountry users share the developed Gold Bluffs Beach campground water system; park guidance says potable water is normally available on-site.
The managed faucet is potable when it is operating and no advisory is posted. Bring backup water or a treatment method in case the system is unavailable or posted non-potable.
This is a managed facility rather than a seasonal natural source, but outages are possible. Verify current campground conditions before departure.
Fire planning
Use only the park-provided fire ring at the permitted backcountry camp. Do not build a new ring or move fire outside the designated facility.
Portable camp stove allowed. Use a self-contained portable camp stove and comply with any posted high-danger restriction.
The backcountry permit is required; the park does not identify a separate California Campfire Permit for an allowed stove or provided-ring fire.
Very high or extreme fire danger can suspend campfires. Check the exact camp notice and park conditions before departure.
Seasonal access
No recurring date-based closure of Gold Bluffs Beach Hike/Bike Camp is published. The source-connected approach conditions below and temporary emergency orders still control access.
Source-connected approaches: Elk Prairie Trailhead, Ossagon Trailhead. Redwood backcountry is generally available year-round, but high water can remove safe creek crossings. Seasonal footbridges may be installed by June and removed by October; winter routes can require a different trailhead.
Check the exact camp and current-conditions pages for bridge, creek, trail, road, and camp status.
