Piute Pass Trailhead begins in the North Lake corridor and climbs through the John Muir Wilderness toward Piute Pass and Piute Canyon. Kampilo follows the official Piute Pass, Piute Canyon, Muriel, Humphreys, Golden Trout, Desolation, French Canyon, and L Lake trails to ten supported camp areas.
Hiker parking is near North Lake and the pack station; the Forest Service does not allow hiker parking inside the campground. The high-elevation road is seasonal, so access and wilderness conditions should be checked before departure.
